Mythbusters is an interesting mix of science and comedy, showcasing the antics of Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage. This program developed through three orginial pilot episodes commissioned by the Discover Channel
The Mythbusters team is composed of skilled people that provide the services needed to test the myths. Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage lead the team with their years of experience using special effects. Robert Lee provides the narration for each episode. Most of the "grunt" work is done by the build team, composed of Tory Belleci, Kari Byron, Scottiee Chapman, Grant Imahara, and Christine Chamberlain. Buster, the crash test dummy, usually nets an appearence each episode. Heather Joseph-Witham often provides the folklore behind the myths that they are testing.
Mythbusters has maintained its popularity through its humorous and entertaining approach to examing the popular urban myths of today. The banter between the cast members is often as entertaining as the actual myth, and they rarely fail to provide the audience with a much needed explosion. The show does back its results with real science, and the show manages to stay unique by being one of the few shows on television that actually proves the reality of the most popular urban myths.
